Getting in touch

I’m happy to answer personal emails from readers. I’ll do my very best to answer any questions regarding minimal and lightweight footwear and suitable gear for mountain, trail and ultra running.  I can also give advice on transitioning to minimal footwear or point you in the right direction if you are having problems – I was an early adopter and as such have had numerous years experience of minimal running in the mountain and trail environment.  I run in shoes varying from 0 – 6mm drop and I’m a touch nutty about lightweight gear.

Please get in touch using the following email, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I possibly can… nearlyshoeless@gmail.com

Gear Reviews…

I accept media samples for review, but will always give a full, frank and honest appraisal in my unique and witty reviewing style. I do not accept payment for my reviews.

My testing ground in the Pyrenees is harsh with brutal ascents, steep downhills, off trail open pastures, river crossings, craggy rocks and scrambles.  I also use forestry access roads as part of my long distance training and as such can throw nearly every imaginable test conditions at an item of running gear.   I run throughout the year – “postholing” in winter snow and combining running shoes with crampons on sections of icy névé – I try to give my readers as broad a spectrum of information as possible.  If I’m very excited about a piece of gear I’ll do a first impression review and will write a follow up after an item is fully tried and tested, I will always disclose if an item is supplied by the manufacturer.   Please send all inquires to nearlyshoeless@gmail.com

  1. Hi Nick,
nice to read your reviews and blogs. I also live in the Pyrénées, a litte bit further west just outside a town called Tournay. Like you, I love the mountains, mountain running and ultra distances. I have given up road running quite a few years ago and will never run road races again. Instead, I am going for longer distances on trails and mountains. Maybe the Tor des Géants one day!?
Anyway, if you fancy keeping in touch please let me know!
    kind regards

    Peter.
